Light Box
Light Box is a residential interior design created for an apartment in Taichung City, Taiwan. The concept centers on a floating cubic unit that glows in the middle of the space. The multifunctional room is lifted 40 centimeters and can serve as a workout area, a washitsu for guests, a guest room or an extension of the living room. Ceiling hooks support suspension training, and a mirrored wall folds down to reveal a double bed. Semi-open layouts, transparent materials and custom wood frames keep the interior light. A palette of blue, black and grey sets a futuristic tone.
Light Box Residential by Kai-Shin Lo has been highlighted as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Light Box Residential was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
