Plus 81
Plus 81 is a bar and nightclub interior set within an aging shopping mall. The facade resembles a temporary construction site clad in Japanese newspapers, and the entrance is concealed behind a figure shop, creating a gradual transition into the interior. A central bar anchors the layout, while surrounding zones support dining, lounge seating, karaoke and private gatherings. A grid ceiling with RGB lighting responds to the low ceiling height and adds visual rhythm. Materials include zinc-galvanized steel, etched mirrors and resin flooring with graphic typography.
Plus 81 Bar and Club by Takahiro Todoroki was featured as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Plus 81 Bar and Club was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2026. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design award which honors superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
