Blarney
Blarney is an interior design for an Irish pub and cafe in Osaka, Japan. The space serves customers from early morning to late night. The counter back cabinet uses pivoting doors that alternate between shelves for alcoholic beverages and shelves for cafe utensils. Heavy traditional decoration is replaced by monochrome art painted directly on the walls, showing Irish cultural elements and interpretations of iconic posters. All tables share the same height as the bar counter to suit the narrow space. The total floor area is 70.78 square meters.
Blarney Irish Pub And Cafe by Tetsuya Matsumoto has been recognized as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Blarney Irish Pub And Cafe won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
