Lockdown Shelter
Lockdown Shelter is a residential interior design set in a high-rise apartment halfway up a mountain in Taiwan. A circular walkway replaces interior partitions, drawing daylight inside and allowing indoor exercise such as yoga and fitness. Glass sliding doors admit light while keeping the private area separate. The open dining room and kitchen include a bar area and a custom cypress table. Materials include architectural concrete, wood flooring, cypress, quartz tiles and marble. Decorative trims are reduced so the natural materials and neutral colors remain visible.
Lockdown Shelter Residence by Shu Yuan Chang has been selected as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Lockdown Shelter Residence received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that rewards excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
