Xu Zhai
Xu Zhai is a residential interior design for a multi-level private house. The layout follows the traditional courtyard form and is arranged over several levels to create a sense of depth. After the renovation, large floor-to-ceiling glass brings the greenery in front of the villa and the lake surface into the interior. The first floor opens toward the water view, while the balcony offers a dry landscape. Each floor includes an open void, so people upstairs and downstairs can see and speak to each other. Wood, stone, paint and glass are used.
Xu Zhai Residential Building by Baodong Wang has been selected as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Xu Zhai Residential Building won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
