Midst of Light
Midst of Light is a residential interior design completed in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The home is planned as a senior-friendly space, with wide circulation, low sofas, low cabinets and handrails, so wheelchair users can move freely. A semi-open layout divides the areas, and a large curved marble cabinet defines the public space. Wood veneer, gray flooring and Malay lacquer are combined in similar tones. Linear LED lights outline the rooms at night, while light-permeable sand curtains soften the daylight. One bedroom is used as a reading space with a raised wooden countertop and hidden storage.
Midst of Light Residential by Yu Ju Lin has been recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Midst of Light Residential was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
