Building Blocks
Building Blocks is a residential interior design for a family home in Taiwan. Large internal French windows bring daylight to every corner of the main space. Wood grain surfaces give the interior a warm and harmonious character. An inclined tangent line on the mezzanine floor plate resolves an existing beam, avoiding the beam and widening the view between the two levels. Wood veneer covering, an embedded light bar and a shaped ceiling further soften the beam. A polished concrete staircase leads to laminate flooring upstairs, and storage is hidden below and beside the stairs.
Building Blocks Residential House by CHEN SHENG-YUAN was featured as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Building Blocks Residential House received the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design award which recognizes superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
